Alan Nixon has today confirmed on his official Twitter account that Jack Marriott may cost around £4m for any potential suitors this summer.

The Peterborough United striker had some season last year for his club as he scored over 30 goals in all competitions - seamlessly adapting to his new surroundings at London Road and in League One.

So much so, then, that he's been linked with another step up to the Championship with Nottingham Forest among those keen.

The Reds could certainly do with a new forward, too.

Towards the end of the season, it seemed as though the balance in their side had shifted towards the defensive third and the goals were drying up.

Daryl Murphy, Ben Brereton and Apostolos Vellios were among the strikers struggling for form and so it wouldn't be surprise if Aitor Karanka goes for a new offensive face.

If he wants Marriott, then, he now knows how much to ask his owners to fork out.

The Verdict

£4m seems a reasonable enough fee for a player who has clearly got bundles of talent.

Indeed, with Forest looking to big in the window this summer, it is a move you could see them pulling off in the window.
