Reading have six players unavailable because of injury. Hal Robson-Kanu, Stephen Kelly, Danny Williams and Jem Karacan all miss because of knee problems whilst Garath McCleary (back) and Danny Guthrie (calf) are also set to miss out.

New signings Anton Ferdinand and Jamie Mackie are unlikely to feature against Huddersfield as they continue to build up their match fitness. Ferdinand has been suffering from illness whilst Mackie has a hamstring problem.

Striker Pavel Pogrebnyak should available for selection despite sustaining a dead leg in the win over Ipswich last Saturday.

Possible line-up: Federici, Gunter, Hector, Pearce, Cummings, Akpan, Taylor, Obita, Cox, Pogrebnyak, Blackman.

Huddersfield Town

Town have lost their opening two league games after defeats to Cardiff City and Bournemouth, the loss to the latter saw the exit of Mark Robins.

Mark Lillis is in temporary charge and oversaw the 5-3 win over Chesterfield in the League Cup and the 3-1 defeat to Cardiff last Saturday.

The Terriers are still without James Vaughan and Anthony Gerrard as both have calf injuries whilst Joe Lolley (hip), Martin Paterson (knee) and Oscar Gobern (toe) are also sidelined.

Lillis is to assess the fitness of captain Lee Peltier who missed the defeat to Cardiff due to a groin injury.

Midfielder Oliver Norwood is unlikely to feature as he is rumoured to be completing a move to tonight's hosts.

Likely line-ups: Smithies, Smith, Lynch, Wallace, Dixon, Coady, Hogg, Butterfield, Majewski, Stead, Wells.

Head-to-Head

The two sides played out a 1-1 draw at the Madejski Stadium in March.

Reading are unbeaten in the last five meetings with Huddersfield in all competitions, winning four.

Huddersfield's last win at Reading was a 2-0 win in Division One in March 1998. Marcus Stewart scored a brace to give the Terriers the win.

The Terriers have only won one of their last nine visits to Reading in all competitions.
