Preston North End have made their first new signing of the summer transfer window acquiring Chris Maxwell on a three year deal, the club has confirmed.

The former Fleetwood Town keeper has already set his sights on the Number One spot at Deepdale currently held by loanee keeper Anders Lindegaard.

He will officially join Preston on the 1st July and the 25-year-old will be there first signing of the summer and Maxwell seemed delighted at the deal, " It's a fantastic club, it's the biggest club in Lancashire and I've heard nothing but positive things about it and it's a really exciting time for me.

"There's a fantastic fan base and a fantastic stadium which I have been lucky enough to play in a few times and also a very experienced manager too so it's really positive from my point of view so it's really exciting for me".

Maxwell continued to shower praise on the club and his excitement at the prospect and made clear his ambition to nail down the number one spot, "I want to be the number one for Preston North End. It's as simple as that. I will fight day in, day out for that and when my chance comes I will make sure I take it".

Maxwell is clearly excited at the chance of playing week in and week out in front of great fans and in a great stadium. Having been signed so early Maxwell knows he has to be patient ahead of the new season.

"It comes with anything in life, you've got to be patient and wait your turn. It's up to me to take your chance and really progress here at Presto and progress the club as well".
