Preston North End captain Tom Clarke has not given up hope of his side reaching a play-off position this season but admitted that they would have to win all five of their remaining games to give themselves a chance, according to a report by the Lancashire Post.

The Lilywhites’ chances of finishing in the top six were dealt a killer blow last weekend as they suffered a 3-0 loss against Leeds United.

That left Preston eight points behind sixth placed Sheffield Wednesday with just five games remaining.

Preston North End are currently preparing for a vital clash against third placed Huddersfield Town on Good Friday and Clarke knows that his players will go into the game with the mentality that every match now is a must win.

The Preston North End skipper added that they were still keen to be considered in the race for the play-offs.

Tom Clarke revealed:

“Definitely, we’ll be going into it with that mentality.

“We’re doing really well as a team, as a squad, to be in there and to still have a chance is brilliant.

“Hopefully we can put a few more good results together and get to where we want to be and that’s as high as possible.

“We still want to be talking about the play-offs for as long as we can.

“We’ve got to go into these next five games with confidence to hopefully get some good results.”
