Preston North End are hoping to get two permanent transfers over the line this week as their recruitment drive ramps up, as per a recent report by the Lancashire Evening Post.

It is said in the report that the Lilywhites are lining up moves for both an attacking midfielder and a right back, with both deals believed to be free transfers.

North End have already been busy this summer, with the club  have bought in Liam Lindsay from Stoke City, whilst loan moves are also in the pipeline for Leicester City goalkeeper Daniel Iversen and Liverpool defender Sepp van den Berg, with both being said to be closing in on respective returns to Deepdale.

And it is expected that the club's summer business will not stop there, with a new striker also said to be high up on their list, with the Lancashire outfit said to be taking their time over that particular addition.

It is said however that North End are prepared to shell out a fee on a new frontman if the price is right this summer.

The Verdict

Preston have been extremely shrewd with their business so far and it appears that Frankie McAvoy is slowly putting together the foundations of a good squad at Deepdale.

The additions of Iversen and van den Berg will certainly be welcome, whilst moves for an attacking midfield player and another right back indicates that he is really trying to add depth to his ranks.

Bringing in the right profile of player to the football club will be vital if they are to make a real push for the top six next term and it will be intriguing to see how they settle in moving forwards.

Signing a striker who can hit double figures will also be important and it could be the difference between finishing in the top or the bottom half of the league standings come May next year.
