The speedy wide player had been interesting Scottish giants Celtic amongst other clubs but now looks set to stay in the North West.

According to HITC Sport, Preston have offered Humphrey a new contract today and he is set to sign it in the next few days.

The Lilywhites have moved quickly to get the contract issue resolved given the fact that the winger would become a free agent should the issue remain unresolved come the 1st July.

The ex-Motherwell man made 56 appearances in all competitions last season for PNE and scored five goals as the club achieved promotion to the Championship.

News of Humphrey’s decision to stay on at Deepdale will come as a major boost to boss Simon Grayson who will no doubt want to keep one of his star performers at the club.
