Robbie Keane could be set for a return to England this January, following his return from America, reports the Birmingham Mail.

Preston North End are interested in bringing the former LA Galaxy striker to the Sky Bet Championship.

Keane left the MLS outfit in November, ending a five-year stint in America, and it is believed he is looking for one last challenge.

The former Republic of Ireland international has said he believes he has a lot more goals to offer despite his age.

It is also believed the 36-year-old would be interested in a return to England, however his wage demands could prove to high for Championship club Preston.

Simon Grayson’s side are gearing up for a play-off push during the second-half of the season, they currently sit ninth in the Championship table.

Saturday’s impressive 2-0 win over high-flying Brighton left North End six points behind sixth placed Sheffield Wednesday.
