After a quiet summer transfer window, Preston North End have already had a busy start to the January market.

Midfielder Jayson Molumby, goalkeeper Daniel Iversen and striker Ched Evans have joined on loan from Brighton, Leicester and Fleetwood respectively.

Now it seems as though the Lancashire club are not done yet, with reports suggesting there could be more incomings and outgoings at Deepdale over the next few weeks.

Here, we've rounded up all the big transfer news surrounding Preston to emerge in the past few days.

Ben Whiteman deal close

Having already seen bids rejected earlier in the transfer window, it now looks as though Preston have got their man in the form of Ben Whiteman.

The Doncaster midfielder has been in demand this month, with a number of Championship clubs - including QPR, Nottingham Forest and Derby - credited with an interest in the 24-year-old.

However, it was reported on Tuesday that North End had had a bid worth more than £1.5million accepted for Whiteman, with the midfielder now set to undergo a medical at Deepdale before becoming a Preston player.

Rangers Johnson stance revealed

One Preston player who has seen much speculation around their future recently is Daniel Johnson, and it appears as though his time at Deepdale could soon be coming to an end.

Johnson's contract with North End is set to expire this summer, and amid reports that he has rejected the offer of a new deal at Deepdale, it now seems as though Scottish Premiership leaders Rangers are aiming to swoop for the attacking midfielder.

According to reports from Football Insider, Rangers are hopeful of securing a deal for Johnson on a pre-contract agreement, which would see the 28-year-old remain at Preston until the end of the season, before moving to Ibrox for free in the summer.

Ipswich target Harrop loan

One player who it seems could be set to leave Deepdale this month, is Josh Harrop.

The midfielder has found game time to come by so far this season, making just five league appearances, and it now seems he could be set for a move elsewhere in search of regular football.

Reports have claimed that Ipswich Town are keen to bring Harrop on loan for the remainder of the season, as they look to boost their chances of winning promotion back to the Championship from League One.
