Preston North End will be hoping they can keep their play-off hopes alive when they take on West Brom at The Hawthorns on Tuesday evening.

The Lilywhites beat Hull City 2-1 in their last game on Saturday, and are currently sat sixth in the Championship table, and will be keen to retain their place inside the top-six for the foreseeable future.

But it's set to be a tough test for Alex Neil's side, as they take on league-leaders West Brom, in what is certain to be one of their trickiest games of the season to date.

Speaking in a pre-match press conference ahead of the game, Preston goalkeeper Declan Rudd made the bold claim in stating that the Baggies are the best team in the Championship.

"They are the best team in the league at the moment looking at the table so we know it will be a difficult game and they have some squad there."

West Brom are four points clear of Leeds United at the top of the second-tier standings, and will be confident of extending their unbeaten run, which currently stands at five matches.

Preston will be well-aware of the threat that Slaven Bilic's side pose to them in midweek, but they'll be hoping to come away with something to show for their efforts on the night.

The Verdict:

I have to agree with Rudd here.

West Brom are playing some really nice football as we head into the final 12 games of this year's league campaign, and they sent out a real statement of intent by beating Bristol City 3-0 with ten men on the pitch.

The likes of Leeds and Fulham will feel as though they're arguably on the same level as the Baggies, but the Championship table doesn't lie at this stage of the season.

West Brom are rightly up there, and if the Baggies can take three points away from the game against Preston on Tuesday, then I think promotion will only be confirmed in a matter of time.
