Sky Bet Championship side Preston North End are keen on sealing a deal for Sheffield Wednesday striker Stevie May, according to the Lancashire Evening Post.

May looks set to stay at Sheffield Wednesday
Stevie May is a man in demand

The 22-year-old only signed for the Owls last summer from Scottish side St. Johnstone, after scoring 27 goals in Scotland the year before.

There's been plenty of speculation surrounding him this summer, Rangers heavily linked with a move for him earlier on in the window, but nothing came from it.

Nottingham Forest are also looking to sign him on loan after missing out on Matej Vydra, but Dougie Freedman's side face a fight to land the in-demand striker before the 6pm transfer deadline.

Simon Grayson's Preston are now interested in taking him on loan to add goals to their squad, after a mixed start to their 2015/16 Sky Bet Championship campaign.

May could turn out to be a shrewd signing for a Championship club, but the forward has clearly struggled to rekindle the sort of form he showcased at his previous club St Johnstone - a move away from Hillsborough may provide the forward with a fresh start and could help him regain form.
