Preston North End winger Daryl Horgan is adamant that he will focus on getting three points rather than getting caught up in the occasion, according to the club’s official website.

Preston travel across Lancashire to face local rivals Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park this Saturday with their opponents scrapping for survival in the second tier.

The Lilywhites still have an outside chance of reaching a play-off spot and 24-year-old Horgan believes that his side need to focus on getting the win first and foremost.

The Republic of Ireland wide man told the club’s official website:

“Any derby that I’ve played in, it always has that bit of unexpectedness and anything can happen.

“Blackburn are having a tough time at the minute but got a good result against Fulham on Tuesday, so they’ll be right up for it.

“There’s a new manager with new ideas, so that’ll help them, but hopefully we can play the game as it is as opposed to getting too soaked up in the derby atmosphere and pick up the three points that we need.”
