Preston North End want to sign Barnsley midfielder Josh Scowen, according to respected journalist Alan Nixon.
The versatile 24-year-old was plucked from relative obscurity by Barnsley a few season ago, signing from Wycombe after a host of loan moves to non-league clubs didn’t work out for him.
However, since moving to Oakwell, he has managed to nail down a regular place in the Tykes team, with his versatility being a vital part of why he forms such an important part of the squad under Paul Heckingbottom.
The Reds have a long history of losing their better players to bigger clubs who seemingly can offer more wages, and they will be hoping they can beat Preston away by offering Scowen regular first team football and making improvements in the summer.
Barnsley lost both Conor Hourihane and Sam Winnall in the January transfer window to Sheffield Wednesday and Aston Villa respectively, while they also sold Alfie Mawson to Swansea City for big money.
Barnsley fans, what do you think to this? Preston fans, is Scowen what you need? Let us know in the comments!
