Preston North End have today confirmed a deal that will see 25-year-old striker Louis Moult sign for them from Motherwell at the start of the January window.

It's a story that picked up in recent days and it has now been fully finalised with the Stoke born forward set to link up with the men from Deepdale from New Year's Day.

The Lilywhites have got a decent attacking set-up already at the moment and, as per the club's official Twitter, Moult is going to add to that in the coming weeks:

Certainly, it gives Preston some exciting attacking options with the likes of Jordan Hugill already at the club and Moult will be aiming to carry his form from Scotland into the Championship.

The Motherwell striker has scored 14 goals in all competitions this season from 22 appearances and such a return in the second half of this Championship season would fire the Lilywhites up the table.

Preston have fallen away a little from the top six compared to where they were but form has once again picked up.

They've only lost one of their last six, winning three, and with them tenth in the table a top six finish is not out of the question if they get Moult firing.

The Verdict

This could be a shrewd piece of business.

The men from Deepdale have some good attacking talent and Moult should add to that. They look ready to kick on once more and Moult could help lead that.
