The transfer window is well and truly open and it remains to be seen who exactly is going to sign who by the end of the market.
Certain clubs are already very busy in the window and Preston North End have certainly been active with some of the signings they have made.
They look ready to add more to their side, as well, with HITC reporting that they are battling Wigan Athletic for defender Callum Johnson.
The Accrington Stanley man has been in excellent form this season and has attracted plenty of interest across the EFL.
It’s Wigan and Preston who are named in this report, though, and it remains to be seen if either of them follows up their interest with a firm bid.
Johnson is a good player and it seems as though he is capable of playing at a higher level than at League One.
Both Wigan and Preston offer Johnson the chance to play regular minutes in the second tier but whether or not they can get themselves a bid accepted remains to be seen.
For sure, though, if one of the two sides do get him they will have signed a very good young player for both now and the future.
