A host of Premier League sides are believed to be chasing Bristol City midfielder Josh Brownhill, according to reports from Bristol Live.

The 23-year-old has played an influential role in helping the Robins climb to sixth spot in the Sky Bet Championship table after a hugely impressive start to the campaign.

The box-to-box midfielder has scored three goals and registered one assist for Lee Johnson's men, and is now believed to be attracting interest from the top-flight.

Sheffield United and Leicester have both linked with Brownhill's signature in the past year, and it is also claimed that Brighton and Hove Albion have been watching him in action in recent times.

The Robins are now under pressure to tie their star-man down to a new deal - his current contract at Ashton Gate expires in 2021, so a new deal would surely fend off any interest from the Premier League.

Brownhill is believed to want to stay at City, with Johnson's men looking like a side ready to fight for promotion via the play-offs this term.

The Verdict

It really isn't a surprise to see Brownhill linked with Premier League sides once again - he has been tremendous this season.

He is only 23, but he has captained the Robins on more than one occasion this term and is a natural leader in the middle of the park.

He can pass the ball really easily, he is good in the tackle, and he is able to dictate the tempo of the game by himself.

It would be a massive blow to lose him in January, and tying him down to a new deal is very important indeed.
