Brighton manager Graham Potter is considering raiding his former club Swansea City to sign attacking midfielder Bersant Celina, a report from The Sun has revealed.

A former Manchester City youth graduate, Celina joined Swansea from the Premier League champions back in the summer of 2018, and has since gone onto make 69 appearances in all competitions for the Welsh side, scoring ten times.

The Kosovan particularly impressed during Potter's time in charge at the Liberty Stadium last season, and it is thought that the now-Brighton manager is contemplating a reunion with the 23-year-old at the Amex Stadium.

There are currently two-and-a-half-years remaining on Celina's contract with Swansea, securing his future in Wales until the end of the 2021/22 season.

Despite that, it is claimed that Swansea could be willing to sell the attacker for the right price this month, with a fee of around £10million being suggested as a potential asking price.

Celina is said to be keen on a return to the Premier League, with Swansea currently fifth in the Championship standings, seven points adrift of the automatic promotion places.

The Verdict

You can see why Potter may be interested in this move.

Celina was hugely impressive for Swansea under his management last season, so you certainly feel as though he could get the best out of him, even in the Premier League, where his previous recruitment by Manchester City suggests he has the potential to perform at top-flight level.

That being said, with Swansea currently well in the battle for promotion, you wonder whether they or Celina will be willing to sanction a move right now, meaning this could be one to revisit in the summer.
