Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish could complete his move to Tottenham Hotspur by the weekend, according to reports.

The Mirror is reporting that Tottenham Hotspur are desperate to get this deal over the line because they want Grealish to join them on their pre-season trip to the United States.

Spurs leave for Los Angeles on Sunday, where they will play Roma, Barcelona and AC Milan, and they want to wrap up a deal for Grealish before the plane leaves.

Tottenham are reportedly set to conclude a deal after negotiating down Aston Villa's asking price to roughly half of their initial £40m demand.

The North London outfit will give the 22-year-old a five-year contract and bump up his salary significantly.

Mauricio Pochettino rates the England under-21 international highly and believes he will provide competition for the likes of Dele Alli and Son Heung-Min in the attacking midfield department.

Grealish is a boyhood Aston Villa fan but he is ready to return to the top flight after accepting that the Villans must sell to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations.

The Verdict

Grealish could be an excellent long-term addition for Spurs because he has such natural skill.

With an improved end product, the youngster could become one of the top attacking midfielders in the division and stake a claim for a spot in the senior England side.

Spurs is a great destination for him as well, because he will joining a team which plays good football under a highly rated manager and they have a strong core of English players in their squad.
