Bournemouth have made a £12m offer for Sheffield United midfielder David Brooks, according to The Sun.

Brooks is highly regarded by Sheffield United, who want to keep him, but Bournemouth are keen to poach him and have firmed up their interest with a sizeable bid.

The 3-cap Wales international played 33 games in total for the Blades last season, scoring three goals and setting up four for his team-mates.

In his breakthrough season at Sheffield United, Brooks started nine Championship matches and came off the bench a further 21 times.

Bournemouth held an interest in Brooks during the January transfer window but that failed to materialise.

However, Eddie Howe is ready to reignite his interest in the 20-year-old, launching an eight-figure bid for his services.

Tottenham Hotspur are also said to be keen on the young winger, who can also play up front.

Brooks is not the only young Welshman that Bournemouth are hoping to poach from the Championship with Brentford centre-back Chris Mepham also on their radar.

The Verdict

This is a difficult situation for the Blades to weigh up.

On the one hand, they would like their young talent to grow and develop with them, earning his place in the first-team set-up but the other side of the argument is that £12m is a massive fee for someone with very little senior experience.

Sheffield United could take this money and reinvest it in a squad capable of winning promotion.
