Leicester City are looking into a move for Swansea defender Joe Rodon but only further down the line, according to a report from The Sun.

Rodon has already been heavily linked with a move to another top-flight club this week in the form of Tottenham, although it now appears Spurs are not alone with their desire to secure the services of the 22-year-old.

According to the latest reports, Leicester are considering a move for Rodon of their own, but they are unlikely to make that move until January or next summer.

The Foxes have already signed one centre back this summer in the form of Wesley Fofana from St Etienne, and it is thought that Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers wants to be him into the side before bringing in another player in that position.

For their part, Spurs are said to have bid £7million plus addons for Rodon, who Swansea reportedly now value at around £20million, meaning the North London club will have to up their bid considerably if they are to sign the 22-year-old.

As things stand, there are still two years remaining on Rodon's contract with Swansea, securing his future at The Liberty Stadium until the end of the 2021/22 season, although he is apparently keen to move to the Premier League as soon as possible.

The Verdict

You feel Leicester may have to adjust their stance here if they going to get Rodon.

With the defender keen on a move to the Premier League quickly and Tottenham interested now, it is hard to imagine Rodon will want or need to wait for Leicester in January or beyond to get his chance in the top-flight.

As a result, the Foxes may have to make their move in the next few days and take a chance with him and Fofana over the next few months, rather than suffer the long term costs of missing out on such a promising young player.
