Burnley have made an £8m bid for Swansea City midfielder Sam Clucas, who only joined the Welsh side 12 months ago.

The 27-year old was a £15m capture for the Swans after an impressive time at Hull City, but he has really struggled since making the move to the Liberty Stadium.

He played 29 games as the side dropped down to the Championship but could be set for an immediate return to the top-flight.

That's because Sky Sports are reporting that the Clarets are very keen on the player and have lodged an £8m bid for the left-sided midfield man.

The chance to join Sean Dyche's men will surely appeal, particularly if they continue to progress in Europe, where they face Aberdeen tonight.

Whether the Swans are prepared to sell the player at such a loss after just a year remains to be seen but they are certainly going to struggle to get their money back on Clucas.

Should Clucas depart, he would follow the likes of Andre Ayew and Lukasz Fabianski out the door, with Alfie Mawson and Joran Ayew set for exits too.

The Verdict

This is a tricky situation for Swansea to be in as they won't want to take such a loss on Clucas.

However, £8m is still a pretty hefty fee and and it could allow Graham Potter to bring his own signings in, as well as helping the clubs balance the books following relegation.

Yet, they could still get more out of Burnley and you wouldn't be surprised to see this transfer go through.
