Norwich City are interested in making a move for Stoke City goalkeeper Jack Butland in January, according to reports from The Sun.

The 26-year-old was heavily linked with a move away from Stoke in the summer, with the likes of Crystal Palace, AFC Bournemouth and Aston Villa all believed to be interested in signing the shot-stopper.

But due to the Potters' hefty valuation of the England international, believed to be in the region of £23m, the top-flight sides pulled out of the race to sign Butland, who has since endured a terrible start to the 2019/20 campaign.

The former Birmingham goalkeeper was dropped to the bench for the weekend's clash with Leeds after a horror show of a performance against Preston North End in midweek, where he made two huge errors for their first two goals.

But now, reports from The Sun claim that Norwich are now interested in signing Butland in the January transfer window - as long as the Potters drop their asking price for the player,

It is claimed that the Canaries would be prepared to spend around £12-15m on Butland in January, despite Stoke wanting almost double that in the summer.

Norwich brought in Ralf Fahrmann on loan in the summer to provide competition to Tim Krul, as Daniel Farke's side look to cement their place in the Premier League.

The Verdict

It really wouldn't surprise me to see Butland leave Stoke in January given how the start of the season has gone.

Stoke have been terrible thus far and Butland hasn't really covered himself in any glory either, which is a shame as he one of the best English goalkeepers when he's at his best.

Stoke had every right to demand around £23m for him in the summer given his contract length, but I think they should cut their losses in the winter.
