Premier League side Everton are eyeing a summer move for Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Keiren Westwood, FLW understands.
The Owls’ goalkeeper has had a fantastic season between the sticks after making the second highest amount of clean sheets this season, with 17 and deservedly claiming a place in the PFA Sky Bet Championship Team of the Year.
After his release from Sunderland last summer, the 30-year-old was immediately snapped up by the Owls and went on to make 44 appearances for them, in what was a reasonable season for Stuart Gray’s side after finishing in a respectable 13th place.
Highly regarded for some magnificent saves he has made this campaign, interest was inevitable for the Republic of Ireland international.
After leaking silly goals in the Everton defence this season, Westwood could provide big competition for current keepers Tim Howard and Joel Robles next season and play a significant role in organising the sometimes shoddy Everton defence, if he were to make the move to Goodison Park.
Sheffield Wednesday fans….. What do you make of this news? Just how good is Westwood? Can you see him leaving this summer? Let us know your thoughts and opinions in the comments below!
