Barnsley are set to lose key defender Andy Yiadom.

According to an exclusive report by The Sun, right back Andy Yiadom is currently undergoing a medical at Huddersfield Town as he prepares to move across Yorkshire and complete his transfer to the Premier League new boys.

Barnsley are set to lose yet another important player.

Since winning promotion from League One, the Tykes have seen Alfie Mawson, Sam Winnall, James Bree, Conor Hourihane, Josh Scowen, Marley Watkins and Marc Roberts all depart the club with Andy Yiadom set to follow.

Huddersfield Town, who won promotion to the Premier League via the Sky Bet Championship play-offs last season, want a new right back to compete with club captain Tommy Smith.

Yiadom is set to become their eleventh signing of the summer transfer window after a breakthrough was finally made in discussions between the two clubs.

Barnsley were trying desperately hard to keep the former Barnet man, who can also play on the right wing, but he has made it clear that he favours a move to Huddersfield Town to fulfil his dream of playing Premier League football.

Swansea City were also keen on Yiadom and lodged a £3m bid.

However, Huddersfield appear set to win the race for the Ghana international.

The Verdict

This is yet another blow to Barnsley.

Over the past three transfer windows, they have had to rebuild their squad and until now, Paul Heckingbottom has done an impeccable and commendable job.

He has already brought in Matty Pearson from Accrington Stanley, who might be seen as Yiadom's replacement, but whether he can fill the 25-year-old's shoes remains to be seen.
