Swansea City’s deal for Hull midfielder Sam Clucas will include left back Stephen Kingsley heading the other way, according to Ed Aarons of The Guardian on Twitter.

The Welsh club have reportedly had a bid accepted for the former Chesterfield, Lincoln and Mansfield player, who was extremely impressive in the Premier League last season as the Tigers narrowly missed out on avoiding the drop.

It has been a tough week for Hull boss Leonid Slutsky, having seen star forward Abel Hernandez ruled out for seven months with a ruptured achilles, and defeat at QPR on Saturday.

Losing Clucas will be a further blow to the Russian’s promotion aspirations, but signing Kingsley will provide the club with a silver lining.

The Scottish youngster joined the Swans in 2014 from boyhood club Falkirk, and already has an international cap to his name, after 17 first team appearances for the south Wales club.

The Verdict: Hull will be disappointed to lose the influential Clucas, but everyone associated with the club knew this was coming.

Clucas’ form last season has earned him a Premier League return, and now Slutsky must use the funds acquired from the deal to strengthen his squad ahead of the transfer deadline next month.

Slutsky should have a sizeable transfer budget at his disposal with the funds from Clucas’ sale, and must spend wisely if his side are to launch a serious bid for promotion this season.

Does the addition of Kingsley soften the blow of losing Clucas, Hull fans?
