West Bromwich Albion are the latest top flight club to be linked with the signature of Nottingham Forest defender Joe Worrall, claim reports from the Mirror.

The homegrown star has been a bright spark for Forest, in what has been a turbulent season for the East Midlands club both on and off the pitch.

It is now understood though, that Baggies boss Tony Pulis is eyeing the 20-year-old up as a long-term successor for Irishman Gareth McAuley, as he nears the end of his career.

Worrall has been in the thick of Forest's relegation battle this term, starting 10 out of their last 11 league games, making a total of 19 appearances in his first proper season.

Forest are also in the midst of a takeover between unpopular owner Fawaz Al-Hasawi and Greek businessman Evangelos Marinakis, so despite signing a new three-and-a-half year deal in February, a deal could definitely materialise.

Forest eased their relegation fears last Saturday as they downed Jaap Stam's high-flying Reading at the City Ground, winning 3-2, courtesy of two goals from Britt Assombalonga and a goal from Carayol.

Warburton's side travel to west London on Saturday to face Ian Holloway's QPR, in what is a crucial match for the Reds.
