Fulham remain interested in signing Jordan Ayew this summer, despite Swansea City rejecting their initial approach.

Slavisa Jokanovic is preparing Fulham for their Premier League return, with Sky Sports’ Lyall Thomas confirming that their £8m bid to sign Ayew had been rejected by Swansea.

There is still interest in Ayew, with Fulham keen to offer the 26-year-old an instant route back to the Premier League.

Ayew and Swansea are facing life in the Championship next season, with Graham Potter recently appointed at Swansea.

Ayew has been with Swansea for 18 months now, having made the switch to Wales from Aston Villa in January 2017.

During his time so far with the Swans, Ayew has featured on 58 occasions, with the forward scoring 12 goals.

Last season in the top-flight, Ayew played in 36 of Swansea’s 38 Premier League fixtures, scoring seven goals and assisting a further two. A further four goals were also added in the cup competitions.

Despite the forward’s best efforts, he could not prevent Swansea from dropping back into the Championship.

Potter has taken charge of Swansea ahead of their Championship return, with the announcement of his arrival coming earlier this week.

The Verdict

Despite Swansea’s struggles last season, Ayew deserves credit, with his form hardly the reason the Swans found themselves where they did.

Fulham’s interest is hardly a surprise, and although a bid has been turned down, they will be tempted to go back in for Ayew after his impressive year.

At 26, Ayew is a good age and would undoubtedly improve Jokanovic’s options.

However, Swansea will know the forward’s value and his importance, which will not make a move straightforward.
