Newcastle United goalkeeper Karl Darlow is keen on a move to Leeds United, according to reports from Football Insider.

The 28-year-old has recently been linked with a move to Elland Road having been frozen out at St. James’ Park - falling behind Martin Dubravka in the pecking order in the North East.

Reports had suggested that Aston Villa and Leeds were interested in signing the experienced shot-stopper, and the Whites have now been dealt a huge boost in the quest to sign him, with the former Nottingham Forest man reportedly keen on moving to Elland Road.

The report also claims that talks are ongoing with the two clubs, with the option of a potential loan-to-buy deal, with Darlow keen to leave having made just one appearance this term, which came in the Carabao Cup.

Whites boss Marcelo Bielsa have been in the market for a goalkeeper to rival Bailey Peacock-Farrell, after Chelsea loanee Jamal Blackman had his loan deal at Elland Road cut short after breaking his leg in a development match last month.

The Yorkshire club currently sit at the top of the Championship table, six points clear of Sheffield United in thirrd position going into the Christmas period.

The Verdict

What a huge boost this is for Leeds.

Darlow is a very astute goalkeeper at Championship level and was magnificent in between the sticks for Newcastle in their promotion winning season in 2016/17.

He'd be a great mentor for Peacock-Farrell and would be a great signing overall.
