Ian Wright is one player who knows what it takes to be a Premier League success, 128 top flight goals with Arsenal are testament to that.

He's now a respected pundit and he's just delivered his verdict on Wolves top flight ambitions.

Wolves director Laurie Dalrymple claimed that they wanted to place themselves amongst the Premier League's elite clubs this week, but Wright is urging them to exercise a little caution in their ambitions.

“To get into the top six and sustain it against that kind of opposition. There’s ambition and then there’s ‘lets just ease into it man’," He said on Sky Sports 'The Debate' recently. "

How they’ve blasted the Championship is impressive. But we can’t ignore the fact that they have Jorge Mendes who is helping you, you can make statements like that because you know he’s going to bring a calibre of player who can help you kick on.”

Wolves return to the top flight after a nine-year absence was confirmed with them kicking a ball, Fulham's failure to beat Brentford ensured Nuno Santo's side could not be caught.

Mathematically they need just a point to confirm the title too, although with a much better goal difference than Cardiff there's little doubt they'll be claiming that honour this weekend against Bolton Wanderers.

The Verdict

Winning a division that features Burton, Brentford and Barnsley is one thing, but coming top six against Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal is something else entirely.

Wright is correct in urging caution, but as he says the calibre of player coming in will spur them on immensely. It remains to be seen how much, but breaking in to the top six will take a herculean effort that I suspect is beyond Wolves right not, with or without Jorge Mendes.
