Following the sacking of manager Philippe Montanier on Saturday, Wales Online report Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs is among the favourites to take over at Nottingham Forest.

The Championship club sit 20th in the league and are without a win in seven which resulted in the Frenchman's departure after their goalless draw to Birmingham City.

Giggs, whom racked up just under 900 appearances for United, has been without a job since leaving his assistant manager role at Old Trafford in the summer and has been linked with a number of vacant managerial roles since.

The former Wales international is fourth favourite for the City Ground job behind a list which includes ex-Nottingham Forest boss Billy Davies and Gary Rowett.

Forest's problems continue off the pitch as well with a reported takeover from an American consortium having fallen through last week.

Ryan Giggs has been looking for a job in management since hanging up his boots in 2014, and was strongly rumoured to be appointed Swansea City's manager prior to the Welsh side announcing Bob Bradley.

The race to be next Nottingham Forest manager also includes Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Nigel Pearson.

Forest fans, would you be happy if Ryan Giggs was appointed? Would he be a breath of fresh air? Who else would you take as the successor of Philippe Montanier? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
