With the promotion race heating up in the Championship, Swansea City are a side that can now look ahead to the summer, with the play-offs surely out of sight.

Graham Potter's men currently find themselves sitting 10 points off the top six and occupying 14th spot in the league table, capping off what has been a solid, if unspectacular, season for the Welsh club.

It was always going to be a tough ask for the Swans to put themselves well up amongst it this season - compared to the likes of other relegated teams Stoke and West Brom, Swansea spent far less than others, and had to work carefully with what they had.

In some ways, you have to give credit to Potter. He has assembled a squad that, with a few minor tweaks here and there, can really launch an assault on the play-off spots next time around.

That is if, of course, they manage to keep hold of their key players. It seems almost inevitable that winger Daniel James will leave in the summer, with reported interest from the likes of Manchester City circling - but what about Oli McBurnie?

The forward is a player that has somehow gone under the radar this term, yet is still one of the most prolific forwards in the division, having netted 18 times in all competitions this season.

If James can attract interest from elsewhere, then there is surely some teams ready to swoop for McBurnie in the summer. Here, we take a look at three options McBurnie could take in the next few months...

Stay at Swansea

Of course, McBurnie simply wouldn't have any problems staying at Swansea beyond this season.

He is playing for a manager that gets the best out of him, in front of a fanbase that adores him, and for a club that will be looking to go one step further next season.

Potter is getting the best out of McBurnie, and it is showing.

Move to the Premier League

McBurnie certainly wouldn't look out of place in the top-flight.

The likes of Che Adams and Kemar Roofe will be looking to move to the Premier League, so why can't he?

He is scoring goals for fun at Championship level, he is still only young, and has plenty of time to develop into a top, top player.

Move to the SPFL

This would probably be the most unlikeliest option out of the three, but you cannot rule it out at all.

McBurnie, being a Scottish international, would surely love to make the move to one of the best teams in Scotland.

Of course, the competition and quality of the Premier League and perhaps even the Championship is much better than the SPFL, but most wouldn't begrudge McBurnie of a move to the likes of Rangers or Celtic if it came about.

Ultimately, any professional footballer wants to win trophies, and Celtic in particular achieve that in abundance, and he would be a resounding success up there.
