Xherdan Shaqiri is certain to leave Stoke City this summer, with Everton and Southampton rivalling Liverpool for the winger’s signature.

A report in The Sun has credited Everton and Southampton with an interest in Shaqiri, along with Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.

The Swiss winger has been on World Cup duty in Russia, but with Switzerland now out of the competition, Shaqiri’s future is set to be resolved in the coming weeks.

A move back to the Premier League looks likely for Shaqiri, who has been with Stoke since the summer of 2015, with the 26-year-old making 92 appearances for the Potters across all competitions, scoring 15 goals.

Shaqiri featured in 36 of Stoke’s 38 Premier League fixtures last season, scoring eight goals and registering seven assists.

Despite a recent return in goals and assists, Shaqiri didn’t impress at the bet365 Stadium, as Stoke suffered relegation back to the Sky Bet Championship.

Now under the management of Gary Rowett, Stoke are expected to lose Shaqiri, with Premier League clubs circling.

Liverpool have been linked with the winger for some time now, with Klopp looking to add depth to his attack ahead of the new season.

Shaqiri has hinted his future could be resolved very soon.

The Verdict

From Stoke’s point of view, now the World Cup is over, they need to be getting Shaqiri out of the door.

The 26-year-old clearly has no desire to stay, with a Premier League move on the horizon.

For the likes of Everton or Southampton, he’d be a shrewd additions, whilst for Liverpool, Shaqiri wouldn’t be a guaranteed starter, but would offer depth.
