West Bromwich Albion are interested in signing Sunderland’s Lamine Kone, and are set to compete with Burnley for his signature, reports the Chronicle Live.

Kone is set to leave the Stadium of Light this summer, with Simon Grayson willing to sell the defender for the right price.

Sunderland are likely to get around £10m for Kone, with West Brom and Burnley in competition to sign him.

Grayson is preparing Sunderland for their first season back in the Championship since 2007, and Kone is almost certain to end his 18-month association with the Black Cats in the coming months.

Both West Brom and Burnley will be hoping Kone can rediscover the form he showed when he initially signed for Sunderland in January 2016, under Sam Allardyce.

Kone made 15 Premier League appearances for Sunderland during the second-half of the 2015/16 campaign, scoring two goals and helping the club avoid relegation.

However, Kone struggled to rediscover that form for David Moyes at the Stadium of Light last season, and despite making 31 appearances, the 28-year-old could not prevent Sunderland’s relegation to the Championship.

With Kone looking likely to leave this summer, Grayson has moved to strengthen his defence, bringing Everton duo, Tyias Browning and Brendan Galloway to the Stadium of Light on season-long loans.
