Aston Villa will look to sell Jack Grealish by auction this summer, according to The Mirror's Live Transfer Blog [Saturday 9th June, 17:55].

Grealish is considered to be one of Aston Villa's best players but they have been forced into selling him given their current financial state.

The Villans are cash-strapped going into next season and selling Grealish would help give them funds.

The boyhood Aston Villa fan was a vital part of their squad last season, lighting up the Championship with some scintillating displays in attacking midfield.

Many scouts - including Manchester City's Brian Marwood - were present at the play-off final to watch the 22-year-old in action and he played impressively despite their 1-0 loss to Fulham.

As well as Man City, Premier League giants Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are keen on Grealish, while Newcastle United, Leicester City, Everton and West Ham United are among the other sides to be mentioned in pursuit of the youngster.

Leicester want Grealish as a replacement for Riyad Mahrez.

The England under-21 international is valued at £40m by Aston Villa, who will try to push the transfer fee up as much as possible by putting Grealish up for auction.

The Verdict

With more than half of the teams in the top flight gunning for Grealish, Aston Villa will be hopeful of raising close to their £40m asking price.

That sort of price will surely rule out the mid-table teams, other than Leicester who will be armed with the Mahrez money.

The Foxes will have to compete with Spurs, Arsenal and Man City for the talented youngster, who is such an exciting prospect now that he is starting to find consistency.
