Derby County

Premier League clubs circling Derby County midfielder

Newly-promoted Premier League clubs Burnley and Hull City are keen on signing Derby County’s Jeff Hendrick, according to The Sun.

The player, who has been the subject of interest from these clubs before, hasn’t played a prominent role in their campaign so far and has not featured since the 2-0 defeat to Barnsley two weeks ago.

With the talent that the Rams possess in centre midfield, including Jacob Butterfield, Will Hughes and Craig Bryson, Hendrick may be surplus to Nigel Pearson’s requirements.

It was reported back at the start of July that Burnley had two bids rejected, and another was turned down towards the end of that month.

The Clarets are still looking to fill the hole that Joey Barton left after he moved on to Rangers in the summer, and probably need more central midfield cover, with only Steven Defour, Dean Marney and Fredrik Ulvestad in their squad.

Derby’s number eight played 34 times for the club as they reached the play-off semi-finals last season, scoring two and setting up three more.

The club currently sit in 18th place in the league after a horrible start that has seen them win just once.

Derby fans… what do you make of the news? Would you be disappointed if Hendrick left? Who do you want Pearson to bring in as a replacement? Let us know your thoughts and opinions in the comments below!
