According to the Daily Mail, Danny Ward is targeting a place in Liverpool’s first-team, after impressing whilst on-loan with Huddersfield Town in the Sky Bet Championship.
Ward arrived at the John Smith’s Stadium ahead of the 2016/17 season, and has made 45 appearances for Huddersfield, helping David Wagner’s side reach the play-off final.
The 23-year old goalkeeper was Huddersfield’s hero in their play-off semi-final victory over Sheffield Wednesday earlier this week, saving two penalties in an intense shootout for a place at Wembley.
But Ward has set his sights on displacing Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius at Anfield during Liverpool’s trip to the Far East this summer, with Jurgen Klopp urging the goalkeeper fight for his place.
Ward will return to Liverpool this summer, with no clause in his loan deal stating he can join Huddersfield permanently at the end of the season.
However, should Huddersfield win the Championship’s play-off final, there is a possibility the goalkeeper will return to Huddersfield for their Premier League campaign.
Wagner’s side face Reading at Wembley on May 29th, where the winners will be rewarded with a place in the Premier League next season.
