Burnley are readying a huge bid for a talented trio of West Bromwich Albion players, according to The Mirror's Live Transfer Blog [Saturday 9th June, 19:01].

Jay Rodriguez, Matt Phillips and Craig Dawson are all on Burnley's radar this summer and they are willing to splash £40m to bring the trio to Turf Moor.

Sean Dyche is ready to spend big to take Burnley to the next level after a seventh place finish in the Premier League earned his side a Europa League spot for the upcoming campaign.

The Clarets need to bulk out their squad and add depth ahead of their European adventure so they are lining up a mega raid on West Brom.

The Baggies are facing a struggle to keep some of their star men at the club following their relegation to the Championship.

Dawson, 28, is also wanted by Wolves and West Ham as well as Newcastle United and Celtic as his ability to play as a right-back or as a centre-back appeals to Premier League sides.

Phillips is a target for Middlesbrough but Burnley will hope that the lure of Premier League football can tempt the Scotland international winger to them instead.

Meanwhile, Rodriguez, 28, is thought to be keen on a return to his hometown club Burnley, where he spent several years in the senior squad after graduating through the academy.

The Verdict

All three would be decent squad players for Burnley, strengthening their options ahead of a tricky campaign.

West Brom will need to reduce their wage bill following relegation too so selling these three for £40m would not only help that but also arm Darren Moore with a hefty budget to add his own players.

This situation seems like a win for all parties as the trio of players get to play in the top flight and compete in Europe.
