Watford are looking to secure a deal for West Brom midfielder Jake Livermore before the 5pm deadline today.

The Hornets are keen on bringing the player to the Hawthorns on an initial loan deal with a view to a permanent deal next summer according to reporter Adam Leventhal.

The Premier League side are after a defensive midfield player as they look to bring in cover for Tom Cleverley who is out for the first few months of the campaign.

Any departure would be a blow for Darren Moore, who has played the England international in the first two games of the season. Additionally, they also have little time to bring in replacements.

It would also leave Albion light in a key area of the pitch, with Grzegorz Krychowiak and Claudio Yacob both leaving the club in the summer.

However, the chance to return to the top-flight would surely appeal to the former Spurs midfielder who will be looking to win a place back in the upcoming England squads.

The Verdict

This doesn't seem a good deal for West Brom at this stage of the window.

The obvious issue is that they will struggle to have time to bring in a replacement, whilst an initial loan deal isn't tempting either.

Livermore would probably want to move but Albion have managed to keep hold of Craig Dawson and Jay Rodriguez so far in this window and will hope to do the same here.
