Premier League club eye transfer move for Sheffield United ace

Sheffield United attacking midfielder David Brooks is on Bournemouth’s radar, according to a reliable football journalist.

Alan Nixon is reporting on Twitter that Bournemouth want to add Leicester City winger Demarai Gray and Sheffield United youngster David Brooks to their squad.

Brooks has enjoyed a positive breakthrough season at Bramall Lane.

Prior to this season, Brooks had only played four cup matches but this year he has featured in 30 league games, including nine starts in the Championship.

In these games, the starlet has weighed in with three goals and four assists.

The 20-year-old’s good performances for the Blades have not gone unnoticed with a number of Premier League clubs now watching him in action.

This includes Bournemouth with the south coast club looking to add quality to their attacking midfield ranks.

Brooks is comfortable operating on either flank or he can also play as a central attacking midfielder, which appeals to Eddie Howe.

The twice-capped Wales international is highly-rated by Sheffield United and they are desperate to keep their academy product, who has been on the club’s books since joining from Manchester City four years ago.

But Bournemouth are hoping to use their position as a top flight club to persuade him to join the Cherries.

The Verdict

Brooks has so much potential but he should be advised to spend at least one more season with Sheffield United.

After winning nine starts, his immediate goal should surely be nailing down a starting spot at Bramall Lane.

At Bournemouth, he is likely to be a bit-part player at best or he might even be loaned out.
