Premier League club considering a move for Sheffield Wednesday ace

According to the Mirror’s live blog (28/5, 16:22), Sheffield Wednesday’s Barry Bannan is attracting interest from Premier League side, Burnley.

Sean Dyche’s side released Joey Barton earlier this month, leaving the Clarets searching for midfield reinforcements this summer, with Bannan reportedly an option.

The Scottish international has played a key role at Hillsborough in the last two seasons, helping Carlos Carvalhal’s side reach the Sky Bet Championship play-offs in successive years.

On both occasions the Owls fell short in their quest for a Premier League return, and will now set about planning for another push for promotion over the course of the summer.

Bannan will surely be a key part of Carvalhal’s plans for next season, particularly after an impressive 2016/17 campaign, which saw the midfielder make 46 appearances across all competitions.

The 27-year old only scored one goal, but provided eight assists for his teammates across the season.

Bannan has previous experience in the Premier League, having played for Aston Villa and Crystal Palace in the top-flight earlier in his career.

Wednesday fans… Would losing Bannan this summer be a blow? Let us know your thoughts!
