Premier League club block loan bid from Wolves

Wolverhampton Wanderers have been rebuffed in their attempts to sign Manchester United goalkeeper Sam Johnstone, according to the Telegraph.

Jose Mourinho has allegedly blocked a move because of Wolves’ treatment of Cameron Borthwick-Jackson.

According to this report, Wolves made an emergency loan bid for Johnstone last Friday after goalkeepers Carl Ikeme and Andy Lonergan both sustained injuries.

However Mourinho has denied Wolves the chance to sign Johnstone because of the Borthwick-Jackson situation.

The young left back is expected to return to Manchester United prematurely after only making seven appearances since joining in the summer.

Sam Johnstone is instead expected to join Aston Villa on loan in January as Steve Bruce’s first signing since taking over at Villa Park.

The 23-year-old is third choice at Old Trafford behind David De Gea and Sergio Romero but Mourinho rates him highly so will only sanction a loan move.

Meanwhile Wolves will have to look elsewhere for their new goalkeeper after Manchester United refused to deal with the Midlands side.

Wolves fans – what do you make of this news? Is this petty from Mourinho or can you understand where he’s coming from? Let us know in the comments below…
