Middlesbrough's valuation of Adama Traore is deterring potential suitors at this stage, according to a reliable football journalist.

Alan Nixon is reporting that Middlesbrough have slapped a £20m price tag on their prize youngster amid growing interest from a number of clubs in the Premier League.

Nixon added that a couple of clubs have shown a keen interest but are being put off by Boro's transfer fee demands.

Traore has been widely linked with an exit this summer following a string of impressive displays for Middlesbrough in the Championship.

The former Barcelona youngster hit five goals and 10 assists last term to lift his side to a play-off spot but they face a battle to keep him after losing in the play-off semi-finals.

Chelsea, Everton and Newcastle United have all been linked with the 22-year-old winger, while West Ham United have also been credited with an interest.

And French giants Paris Saint-Germain were the latest club to enter the race for Traore.

However, no team has followed up their interest with a concrete bid, given Boro's hefty price tag for the speedy wide man.

The Spain youth international, formerly of Aston Villa, is yet to comment on where he will be playing his football next season.

The Verdict

Traore is understandably a man in-demand this summer, owing to his much-improved performances last season.

The youngster has always shown raw talent and blistering pace, but he has added consistency to his game, got better at beating defenders with ease and has now even added end product to his dribbles.

At £20m, this could be a wise long-term investment for any club but I understand the hesitancy given that he has only had one impressive season so far.
