Premier League and Championship clubs are weighing up a move for Stoke City defender Tom Edwards according to Stoke on Trent Live.

The full-back made 15 appearances for the Potters last season, in what was a disappointing league campaign as they finished 15th in the Championship table.

It appears as though his strong performances haven't gone unnoticed either, with a number of clubs reportedly keen on landing his signature, on both a loan and permanent deal.

The Lancashire Telegraph have revealed that Blackburn Rovers are one of the teams that have registered their interest in signing the 21-year-old ahead of the new season.

Rovers finished 11th in the Championship standings last term, and Tony Mowbray clearly sees Edwards as a player that could add much-needed strength in depth to their squad.

He's made 51 appearances in total for Stoke City, since making his debut against Manchester City in the 2017/18 season whilst they were playing their football in the Premier League.

Stoke are set to get their league campaign under way against Millwall on Saturday 12th September, in what is certain to be a tricky test for the Potters.

The Verdict:

He could be a decent addition for clubs in the Championship.

I'm not convinced that he's quite good enough to be playing in the Premier League just yet, as he's still got areas for improvement.

But he's certainly heading in the right direction, and I'm not surprised to hear that he's attracting interest from other clubs ahead of the 2020/21 season.

A move to Blackburn could tempt him though, as Tony Mowbray's side will be hoping they can challenge for a top-six finish this term.
