Barnsley head coach Poya Asbaghi has revealed that expects Brad Collins to miss the remainder of the season due to a shoulder injury.

The goalkeeper picked up this issue during the club's clash with Millwall last weekend.

Unable to continue in this particular fixture, Collins was substituted in the 24th minute as Jack Walton was brought on as his replacement.

Barnsley went on to suffer a 4-1 defeat to the Lions at The Den as they missed out on an opportunity to close the gap between them and Reading who also lost last weekend.

Currently eight points adrift of safety, the Tykes simply have to pick up a positive result in their meeting with Swansea today if they are to have any chance of avoiding relegation.

However, when you consider that the Jacks have won four of their last five league games, Barnsley could be in for a tough afternoon if they fail to step up to the mark in this fixture.

Ahead of the club's trip to the Swansea.com Stadium, Asbaghi has shared an injury update on Collins.

Speaking to Barnsley's official website about the keeper, Asbaghi said: "Brad Collins is not doing so good right now, unfortunately, and there's a big question mark over whether he'll be back for the games that's left.

"I'd expect him to be ruled out for the remainder of the season sadly."

The Verdict

This is a considerable blow for Barnsley as Collins has been an ever-present in the club's side this season.

The 25-year-old has started in all 40 of their Championship fixtures and has kept eight clean-sheets at this level.

With Walton set to be drafted in as Collins' replacement, it will be interesting to see how the 23-year-old will fare against Swansea.

Having made 37 appearances in the second-tier during his career, Walton knows exactly what it takes to compete in this division and thus will be confident in his ability to produce an assured performance against the Jacks.

If Barnsley are able to secure a crucial victory on their travels today, they could potentially use the momentum gained from this result to their advantage heading into the final fixtures of the season.
