Swansea City manager Graham Potter has revealed that neither Tom Carroll or Luciano Narsingh will be fit to face Derby County on Saturday, report the club's official Twitter account

Midfielder Carroll has been missing since the 3-1 victory over Blackburn Rovers at the end of October whilst Narsingh is yet to make a first team appearance this season.

"Saturday will be too soon for Tom Carroll and Luciano Narsingh," Potter bluntly told his pre-match press conference.

Swansea will be desperately looking for a positive result after suffering back-to-back home defeats, losing 4-1 to Norwich City last weekend and 2-1 to West Bromwich Albion on Wednesday night.

Those losses have bumped them down into 11th place in the Championship table but they remain just five points behind Nottingham Forest who currently occupy the final spot in the top-six.

Weekend rivals Derby also come into the clash off the back of a midweek defeat with Frank Lampard's side going down 2-1 Gary Rowett's ten-man Stoke City.

The verdict

Swansea have had a rather threadbare squad all season so there is no reason that Monk cannot get a positive result against the Rams.

If they have genuine hopes of breaking into the playoff places, however, you feel they will have to strengthen a fair bit during the January window.

But the club were shrewd in the summer in order to keep the club financially stable and I imagine they will keep the same approach in the winter.
