Leicester City boss Claude Puel has admitted that he is keeping an eye on Harvey Barnes and hasn't ruled out recalling the attacking midfielder in January.

The 20-year-old has been a bright spark for West Brom since joining Darren Moore's men in the summer and he has established himself as a key player in the team.

Barnes has scored four goals and assisted two in what has been a productive season so far, but he has also impressed with his general play and ability on the ball.

That hasn't gone unnoticed as he was rewarded with a call-up to the England U21 squad for the first time yesterday.

And, the Express & Star have revealed that Puel is thinking about recalling the youngster in January, which was an agreement in the original deal.

"I follow Harvey’s performances of course but in January we will see what happens. I am happy with his work and about the quality he puts on the pitch, and about the good way, good football for him. We will see.

"This situation with this young player on the team, I think gives a good boost for all the club."

Barnes is sure to be involved as Albion take on Reading at The Hawthorns tomorrow, with Moore's men looking to return to the top of the league.

The Verdict

This is inevitable with the way that Barnes is playing, he is standing out with his ability and wouldn't look out of place in a Premier League squad.

However, there are still serious doubts as to whether he would get in the Leicester team and if that's the case he would surely be better playing regularly in the Championship.

Either way, that's up to the Foxes and Puel to decide but the Baggies will be desperate to keep the youngster until May.
