Yesterday’s under-23 clash between Leeds United and Nottingham Forest was watched by a number of Premier League scouts from clubs including Manchester United, Arsenal, Wolves and Everton. 

Leeds ran out 2-0 winners against Forest, with Carlos Corberan’s side including the likes of Adam Forshaw, Stuart Dallas, Tom Pearce, Lewis Baker and Jamal Blackman – all players expected to make up Marcelo Bielsa’s bench tonight in Hull.

However, it was goals from Ryan Edmondson and Jordan Stevens that secured the points for Leeds, as a number of youngster from both sides impressed.

The Nottingham Post have confirmed that the likes of Man United, Arsenal and Everton were in attendance, alongside representatives from Hearts, Aston Villa and a number of other EFL clubs.

Edmondson was amongst those to impress for Leeds during the second-half, with the powerful 17-year-old finding himself on the fringe of Bielsa’s first-team squad during this early stage of the season.

Jack Clarke was another Leeds player to feature - he was an unused substitute as Leeds drew 1-1 with Sheffield Wednesday on Friday evening.

For Forest, Arvin Appiah featured and impressed, whilst Ryan Yates, Forest’s highly-rated midfielder, was also involved at Thorp Arch.

The Verdict

There tends to be scouts at a number of games like this, but with some real quality on show, this could be a potential worry for both Leeds and Forest.

The likes of Pearce, Edmondson, Clarke, Appiah and Yates are highly-rated by their respective clubs, who will not want to lose them to Premier League clubs at this early stage of their career.

It’s down to the likes of Leeds and Forest to ensure youngsters are tied down to decent deals at this stage to fight off any potential interest.
