Leeds United were hit with a potentially worrying injury blow on Monday evening, with Liam Cooper hobbling off with a knock during the under 23's stalemate with Burnley at Elland Road.

Cooper made it through 45 minutes of action for Carlos Corberan's side, but was replaced at half-time on his return from an injury lay-off.

But after picking up a knock during the game, it remains to be seen as to whether the injury picked up by the Leeds skipper is anything serious.

The 28-year-old has made ten appearances in total for the Whites this term, and will be keen to get back into competitive action for the first team at the earliest of opportunities.

He has formed an impressive partnership with Brighton loanee Ben White in the heart of the Leeds defence, and if the pair are fit for the remainder of this year's league campaign, then you have to feel as though Marcelo Bielsa's men will be in with a chance of winning a long-awaited promotion to the Premier League.

Leeds are next in action against QPR on Saturday at Elland Road, in what could potentially be a tricky test for the Whites, who will be hoping to move back into the automatic promotion places with a positive result.

The Verdict:

They'll be hoping that this is nothing serious.

It was unlikely that Cooper was going to play more than 45 minutes on his return from injury, and Bielsa would have been keen to have him involved in the Leeds first team for their game against QPR this weekend.

Leeds rarely looked troubled against Sheffield Wednesday though, and it wouldn't come as a surprise to see Bielsa not take a risk on Cooper ahead of their game on Saturday, as he won't want to risk further injury his captain at such an important time of this year's campaign.
