Barnsley named their squad for their pre-season campaign, but there was a notable absentee from the squad list, with Kieffer Moore not being named in Daniel Stendel's team (Bristol Post, 8th July, 12:40pm).

Moore was a key player for Stendel's side last season, scoring 17 goals in League One as they won promotion back into the Championship at the first time of asking.

That statistic looks even more impressive when you see that the forward missed a number of games through injury midway through their league campaign.

Stendel will be hoping that he can keep hold of his key men, and Moore certainly falls into that category.

It has previously been reported by the Daily Mail, that Bristol City were long-term admirers of the striker, and could be tempted to reignite their interest in signing Moore before the transfer window closes.

The Robins have already signed a number of players to strengthen their squad ahead of new Championship season, and could be tempted to add to their attacking options.

It has also been revealed by Get French Football News, that Bristol City striker, Famara Diedhiou is wanted by Neil Warnock's Cardiff City, as they look to win promotion back into the Premier League.

This could mean that Lee Johnson's side are in the market to sign a striker, and Moore could be top of their wish list.

The Verdict:

This will be a real worry for Barnsley supporters heading into the new season.

Moore was key to their promotion last term, and without him, they looked like a completely different team who lacked cutting edge in front of goal.

It'll be interesting to see if Bristol City are to reignite their interest in him, and if they do, it wouldn't come as a surprise to see him leave Stendel's side.
