West Ham boss David Moyes has confirmed that Grady Diangana is set to stay at West Brom after he suffered an injury in Albion's defeat to Stoke City last night.

The winger has been one of the outstanding individuals in the Championship this season, weighing in with five goals and five assists.

As well as that, his overall importance to the team has been clear in recent weeks, with Slaven Bilic's side going on a poor run in the past month that came following Diangana's injury.

The 21-year-old was given his first start since mid-December last night but lasted just 90 seconds and Moyes told football.london that he's unlikely to recall the player before the deadline shuts because of that.

"It was a big consideration. His injury last night has put paid to him coming back. We are so short of players just now, maybe a months time when he’s recovered. He’ll probably stay there until the end of the season."

There has been no official update from the Baggies yet concerning Diangana's injury but Moyes' comments suggest he could face another four weeks on the sidelines.

The verdict

Losing Diangana was a huge blow for West Brom last night and they looked poor, once again, without him on the pitch.

However, in the bigger picture this could be a real blessing in disguise as West Ham won't want to bring back an injured player and if he is only out for a month, he will still be available to Bilic for much of the run-in.

It was going to be an anxious wait for all connected to the Baggies to see if they could keep hold of Diangana, so this update will at least ensure they don't have to have other plans in place.

As for Diangana, he will be focused on his recovery and will want to play a big role in Albion's promotion push when he returns.
