According to the Birmingham Mail, bookmaking giant Paddy Power has already suspended betting on Mick McCarthy becoming the new Leeds United manager, further increasing the speculation surrounding manager Paul Heckingbottom's future.

The Whites have struggled for form since being taken over by the former Barnsley manager, and last night once again failed to win, losing out to promotion chasing Aston Villa in a narrow defeat live on Sky.

With Mick McCarthy opting to walk away from Ipswich this week rather than stay and see his job out until the end of the season, the speculation has been further building that the Irishman could be set to take over the reins at Elland Road, and the latest update from Paddy Power suggests things are moving at pace.

Indeed, bookmakers have been wrong before, but suspending the betting will if anything only add more fuel to the fire for Leeds fans, who remain split on the idea of sacking another manager or giving Heckingbottom the chance to rebuild in the summer.

The Whites already parted ways with Thomas Christiansen in midway through the season, and another managerial departure would surely only bring more cloud to what is already something of a poisoned chalice of a role at Elland Road.

Leeds fans, what do you think? Is Hecky's time up? Let us know!
